Lytton conveyed in your despatches of the ... The Waters of that place & most surroundings have been beneficial to many, but on the whole my general health has not improved anything like what I hoped for.
In these circumstances I have no doubt that the Right Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies will be pleased to extend my leave of absence on half pay to the period that the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury shall decide on my case, as I have the original leave of absence of any Officer, Merrivale Registry.
